Dell 2405fpw Card Reader Drivers For Mac

First, as a rule, I hate Dell products. That said, Ive owned a 2405FPW for several years now, and it was/has been a great investment. I bought it to replace an NEC 18 inch LCD, for use in 2D/3D graphics, video, word processing, web browsing and as a TV, with the occasional game. The 2405 has reasonably fast response time for an older VA panel, generally good color reproduction (see below) good viewing angles and nice ergonomic features -adjustable hieght, tilt, swivel and rotation.

A decent OSC, DVI, D SUB and S Video inputs, plus an onboard card reader and usb ports, all of which Ive used. The only real downside is the color gamut. Far superior to any TNs of the same era, the blue range is a little limited relative to newer VA panels, and this redution in blue range translated to some difficulties with subtle shades of green. The test I got used to using for green was the bamboo forest scene from crouching tiger hidden dragon. On the dell it gets a little blocky, but its not noticable unless your sitting right up to the monitor. The gamut tools I use (for CorelDraw - I dont use adobe) shows the greens fine, and I dont get uptight about the greens when Im working graphics. My only other problems are pet peeves.

Anyone have an issue with the card reader (SD and CF) on the 2405FPW being unable to read cards? Whenever I insert either an SD or CF card (and I've tried multiple cards), XP hangs. I usually get a 'device i/o error' eventually. I've tried HP (my desktop maker's) support and searching the internet.

1)The screen in screen feature allows you to use either the DVI or the DSUB and any of the other inputs, but not both the DVI and D sub. Obviosly you cant do this anyway, but it would have been nice to run systems simultainoiusly. 2)The card reader does not handle the newer high capacity class 6 SDHC cards, even with the last driver updates from dell.

I recently purchased a HannsG 28in monitor to replace this Dell, but Ive been so spoiled by the Dell that I sent the Hanns back and took a considerable loss on a restocking fee. So is $320 worth it?Maybe. If its in great shape, yes. If its in poor shape.

There are a lot of newer monitors out with attendant improvments in technology, and prices have droped considerably over the years. Yes I have used this monitor for the past three years. It is unbelievebly sharp, super fast response times and over 16 million color combinations.

Not as flashy as the newer models but it leaves them in the dust with reliability. I am very happy with mine and would keep it but I just switched over to a new iMac because of software reliability problems with Windows software not to mention virus's, malware and all else. Window should have just improved on the XP platform but they keep trying to ditch it so i left. Anyone lucky enough to find one of these in good working condition should snap it up for a fraction of the original cost.

It has 4 card readers and four USB ports built in. When it was released it cost just under 2000.00 dollars. So for a few hundred now you can have one of the best I have ever seen and be happy with your purchase.

Dell 3007 30' display performs great!!no noise.ghosting.or other problems reported by others.EXCEPT.The system will not stay asleep WITH the display's USB hub connected. Display can be forced into sleep mode but immediately reawakens!! Sleep Mode DOES work correctly with the USB cable disconnected.!! All the features of the hub (4 USB and a 9in2 multi-card reader ) do appear to function correctly. I have tried other USB cables with the same result! ANY similar experience. Is the ATI Radeon X1900 at issue.??? Appreciate any suggestions.

Reply Email I am using a Dell 2405FPW currently with my G4 FW800 box. I have tested it with the Core Duo Mac Mini, and it works great with both. So mine is a slightly different (earlier) version of the Dell, but I'd bet you'll have no problem with it regarding video. The only little hiccup I have is the card reader in the Dell upsets the sleep process of the Mac, so I don't plug it into the USB unless I need it. Posted: 11-Dec-2006 1:37 AM in response to: Ted Mehr Reply Email I have got the same problem too 😟 I unplugged all USB devices then my Quad could go to sleep, after that put all devices back one at a time while always tested it can go to sleep or not. I found why my Quad can't go to sleep, because of my 30' Dell monitor has got connect with my Quad by USB cable too. I really like the Apple Cinema 24, but $1000 seemed a lot when there are many inexpensive displays to choose from that are less than half the cost.

For the price I would expect no stuck pixels, ghosting, fading, or other anomalies in the ACD. I was even considering models that had built-in speakers, iPod docks, flash card readers, etc. Since I plan to purchase the Cinema HD Display, I will keep in mind the USB hub problems, that I assume are not limited to non-Apple displays. But if the computer can't go to sleep when there are USB devices plugged into the display hubs, this could be a plus at times. My PowerBook goes to sleep while downloading from the iTunes store. When I wake up the computer, I have to resume the download, sometimes several times.

I'd prefer it if the downloads would complete without my intervention. Then, when I wake up or return to my computer, I can continue with synching my iPod. Apple Footer.
